Állitólag Manco Capac, az első inka alapította i.sz.1200 körül, mikor is felhúzta ide a Naptemplomot. Többen úgy tartják, hogy a város eredeti formája az inkák szent állatát a pumát ábrázolja. Ennek feje, a város felett található rituális épületegyüttes, a Saqsawaman (sexy woman:), a test a város, a lábakat pedig a külső kerületek alkotják. Itt sétálva különösebb régészeti érdeklődés nélkül is megdöbbentő, amit ezek az arcok műveltek a sziklákkal. Gyarmati leírásait olvasva részben el tudjuk képzelni, milyen lehetett ez a hely teljes valójában. Mára annyi maradt, hogy építészeti remekműveket keresünk a rájuk húzott spanyol épületek tövében. Közben meg az jutott eszembe, hogy ha jobban meggondoljuk a mai kor egyik legnagyobb vuduja, a globalizáció nem új keletű dolog. Ami a fehér ember megjelenésével itt végbement ugyanaz az uniformizálás, csak ezt az egyháznak sikerült végbevinnie. Gratulálok.
Mikor idejöttek az arcok, el kellett dönteni, hogy akkor most ezek az indiánok itten emberek vagy sem. Komoly dilemma. Pár tiz éves "tudományos vita" után, 1512-ben II.Gyula, majd 1537-ben III. Pál pápai bullája deklarálta, hogy emberek, vagyis Ádám és Éva leszármazottai. By the way a döntés mögött van azért egy hangyányi ideológiai és gazdasági megfontolás is. Ezeket a szerencsétleneket csak akkor lehetett keresztelni (meg adóztatni, meg dolgoztatni) ha emberek. Emberek, de fogyatékosok!!!, mert azért mégsem lehettek olyan jogaik mint a hóditó spanyoloknak.
Amikor eljövünk ide az ismeretlenbe, hogy távoli, ősi, rejtélyes civilizációkat fedezzünk fel, találunk romokat, és a saját kezünk nyomát. Szal amikor legközelebb valami furcsát, vadat, idegent látsz, nem kell egyből hívni az inkvizíciót.

The city was probably founded by the first inca, Manco Capac around a.c.1200 when he had built the Temple of the Sun. The shape of the original city reminds us to a puma the saint animal of the incas. The head is composed of the ritual buildings of the upper part of the city called Saqsawaman (sexy woman:). The city itself is the body, the suburbs are the legs. My archeologist part is simply lost but still all what these guys were able to do with rocks has impressed me very much. Unfortunately, today we just search the original pieces at the bottom of the spanish buildings, and all we can have is just an idea about how gorgeous all this was. During these days I got the idea that one of todays wodoo thing called globalization is not a new thing. All what happened here after the white people arrived is the same shit but done by the church. Bravo.
After the spanish arrival they faced a big question. Are these indians humans or not. After a couple years of investigation the answer was yes, so they became children of Adam and Eva and there was a pontifical declaration first in 1512 then in 1537. This decision was slightly based on ideological and econimical reasons. These guys can be christianized (and can pay taxes, can be forced to work for the Spanish Crown) only if they are humans, but course they are deficient otherwise they should have the same rights as the conquistadors.
As a result we can say that when we travel so far to discover ancient and mistic cultures, what we find are ruins and the mark of our own hands.
So when next time you will see something unknown, something different or strange please think about it first before you call the Spanish Inquisition.
