Palacsinta sziklák

Az elso utunk Kaiteriteri világhíru tengerpartjára vezetett, ahol felvettük Verenát, hogy már elso napon ötösben utazzunk. Az 5 órából 8 lett, amitol mindenki rendesen elfáradt. Kisebb megállókat tartottunk, egyszer a Rotoroa tónál, aminek a párja a Rotoitit, ahol pár hete voltunk. Itt eloször találkoztunk az utálatos kis homoki legyekkel. Ezek a nagyon apró legyek kegyetlenül csípnek, pár pillanat alatt ezer szállt ránk. Így talán öt percig sem maradtunk és még negyed óráig csapkodtuk oket a kocsiban. A nap igazi látványossága a Pancake Rocks Punakaikiban. A kiírások szerint nem tudni pontosan, hogy hogyan keletkeztek ezek a csíkos réteges sziklák. Dagály idején vagy eros hullámzáskor a víz olyan erovel nyomja a sziklákat, hogy a belso járatokon felfelé tör és több méteres magasságban, mint egy gejzír felcsap a kövek közül. Ezt sajnos nem láttuk, mert a tenger egészen nyugodt volt. Viszont a nyugati tengerpart gyönyöru, már amit eddig láttunk belole. És még nézhetjük két napig :)

Our first trip was to Kaiteriteri world famous beach. Verena from Germany joined us for the first day of our trip. The drive extended to 8 hours that made all of us pretty tired. We had a few stops including Lake Rotora in the Nelson Lakes NP. This was our first meeting with the super annoying sandflies. These tiny creatures really bite, in about a few seconds thousands have come around us. So our visit to the lake was short followed by a long time illing the sandflies in the car. The main attraction of the day were the Pancake Rocks in Punakaiki. They say that no one knows exactely how these layered rocks have been formed. At high tide our when the waves are great the water is pushed inside the rocks and comes up at certain blowholes. Unfortunately we had no chance to see this, cause the see was nice and quiet, but I can say we have fallen for the West Coast already. And luckily we will head down here in the next two days :)
